The Diesel engine has come a long way in the last 30 or so years. Once diesel tuning was not even a factor because the engine was considered only useful for agricultural or industrial low performance work.
Fast forward to the early part of the 21st century and diesel engine cars especially the modern brand of CDTi and turbocharged vehicles are giving their petrol brothers a real run for their money in all areas of performance and economy while still retaining the traditional diesel values of long engine life and improved economy.
The engines are quiet efficient and reliable with in some cases spectacular performance. No surprise then that sports diesels and as a consequence Diesel Tuning have become popular parts of today’s sports auto market.
So with the diesel engine taking so many leaps forward why would you want to tune one at all?
Well of course they may be good but you would never say the modern diesel was perfect and for some of us any gain is a good one. The performance of your diesel engine is often a factor and where additional power and acceleration are available the sporting driver may not want to leave that potential untapped. On a more ethical note there is also the green factor. The diesel engine is considered by many to be inherently greener than the petrol but further gains in fuel economy may also be made where the efficiency of the fuel burn can be increased for greater diesel performance.
So how to achieve these gains for your diesel car?
The options for tuning any engine are many of course you can improve fuel flow by reprofiling the cylinder head replacing the valves with larger ones reprofiling cams changing exhaust systems and many other modifications that require expensive work on the engine. Apart from needing often costly and expert machining these tuning alterations can often have the effect of reducing reliability or the life of the engine.
You can of course improve the car in other ways improving suspension and brakes saving weight better aerodynamics and though these will all help it is true the one thing they won’t give you is more power!
The real key to diesel tuning gaining power and economy is with the fuel injection system in the diesel car. The reason for this is that the injection system controls the amount of fuel at all stages in the engine’s cycle at all engine speeds. Where the amount of fuel can be perfectly delivered as needed by the engine the fuel will burn at optimum efficiency. The injectors will not be delivering too much fuel to be ejected unburned from the engine through the exhaust. Neither will they be adding too little leaving an excess of air with insufficient fuel to burn at maximum power.
The manufacturers rarely optimise a diesel engine for perfect efficiency and performance. We can’t really speculate as to the reasons why however it is fair to say that by reprogramming the fuel injection system of your car you can get significant gains to both performance and economy without increasing the strain on the engine or reducing its reliability or life span. Simple engine remapping can achieve both your diesel tuning objectives: increasing the performance of your engine and saving fuel at the same time.
How better to appeal to both groups of motorists the ones that want to save fuel and money or the ones that just want their cars to be fast?

Die Hard 1988 is the first action film in the Die Hard series. The film was produced by Lawrence and Charles Gordon along with Joel Silver.
It was written by Jeb Stuart and Steven E. de Souza stars Bruce Willis Bonnie Bedelia Alan Rickman Paul Gleason Alexander Godunov Reginald VelJohnson and William Atherton and was directed by John McTiernan. A critical and commercial success Die Hard propelled Willis’ film career and established Rickman as a popular portrayer of villains in American film. The film also started the Die Hard series.
The movie is based on a 1979 novel by Roderick Thorp titled Nothing Lasts Forever itself a sequel to the book The Detective which was previously made into a 1968 movie starring Frank Sinatra.
Plot
Fox Plaza in Los Angeles portrayed in the film as “Nakatomi Plaza”
John McClane a detective with the New York City Police Department arrives in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve attempting to reunite and reconcile with his estranged wife Holly who is attending a Christmas party thrown by her employer the fictional Japanbased Nakatomi Corporation at its American branchoffice headquarters the highrise Nakatomi Plaza on the 30th floor. While McClane refreshes himself from his flight they see each other for the first time in several months and have an argument over her use of her maiden name Gennero but Holly is soon called away to make a speech. As the party continues a group of 12 apparent terrorists actually robbers led by Hans Gruber seize the building and engage in panic fire as they roundup the partygoers as hostages. McClane was able to escape from the floor without his shoes and runs up the stairwell to check out the building’s top floors. He watches as Gruber and 3 henchmen question Joseph Takagi Holly’s boss.
Gruber explains to Takagi that his intention is to steal 640 million in bearer bonds stored in the building’s vault and demands from Takagi the access code to the corporation’s computer system which is the first step in unlocking the vault. When Takagi refuses to give Gruber the code saying that he does not have it and that it is useless to Gruber anyway Gruber kills Takagi. McClane is upset that he was unable to save Takagi and sneaks away before he is seen by any of the robbers. Karl Gruber’s presumed secondincommand however senses that there may be a problem.
McClane realizing that the building’s phone lines have been cut desperately looks for a way to alert the local police. He sets off the fire alarm and the fire department responds rapidly. However Gruber’s men cancel the alarm and hunt down McClane. McClane kills Tony Karl’s brother and secures a twoway radio and machine gun before placing Tony’s body on an elevator and sending it down to the 30th floor for everyone to see. McClane hides on top of the elevator to listen to the robbers’ response and try to learn more about them and their plans. Meanwhile Karl upset by his brother’s death and believing McClane to be a serious threat swears revenge against McClane but Gruber insists that he be patient while Theo the group’s technical expert breaks each of the vault’s first six locks and the explosives team rigs up C4 explosives beneath the building’s roof.
Gruber and his men listen over the radio as McClane contacts the Los Angeles Police Department who are skeptical in part because of the earlier “false” fire alarm. LAPD Sergeant Al Powell drives around the building checks the lobby and begins to drive off after finding nothing amiss. However McClane has just killed two more of Gruber’s men and secures Powell’s attention by dropping one of the corpses onto Powell’s patrol vehicle. The situation rapidly escalates but Gruber remains calm only telling Theo to work as quickly as possible on disabling the vault’s locks. Annually about half a million bicycle related injuries occur. In addition according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration a bicyclist is killed approximately every six hours. However most bicycle crashes are predictable and preventable by using proper precautions on the part of bicyclists and motorists.
Types of Bicycle Crashes
Falls and Collisions
Over 50 percent of bike crashes are the result of falls. Falls commonly occur either when the front wheel suddenly stops moving or when the rear wheel slides out. The front wheel can stop if it falls into a road defect such as a crack or drain grate or if the front brakes are applied very hard. Rear wheels can skid out when turning on gravel sand ice metal surfaces or any slippery surface.
After falls the most frequent type of bike accidents are collisions with a stationary object such as trees. Falls and collisions with fixed objects account for about 75 to 80 percent of all bicycle crashes.
CarBicycle Crashes
Carbike crashes account for between about ten to 15 percent of bicycle accidents but result in the largest number of fatalities. Most of these accidents occur when either the bicyclist or the motorist is turning or crossing at an intersection or driveway. Other carbike crashes occur when the bicyclist is not obeying traffic laws and is cycling on the wrong side of the road or running red lights.
Bicycle Crash Injuries
Injuries from bicycle crashes are most often to the limbs and include fractures abrasions and lacerations. Fractures account for about 25 percent of bike crash injuries and facial injuries account for about one third of injuries. The most severe and disabling injuries are brain injuries which can result in a permanent disability. Head injuries are also more likely to be fatal.

*Use a bell or horn to signal or alert drivers of your presence.
*Use a headlight and a rear light especially at night.
*Use a mirror to glance at traffic behind especially when approaching intersections.
*Be attentive and alert to the cars. Watch for left turning cars crossing in front that may not see you and pay attention to parked cars for which a door may open.
*Slow down so you can stop quickly if necessary.
*Avoid riding on sidewalks.
*Avoid busy streets especially as a novice rider.
